You can never have too many tips to help you with your career and skill set. So I’ve decided for Christmas to give you five more tips for public relations! These tips come from the fortune public relations site.
I hope this helps you currently and in the future, happy holidays to everyone.
Let’s go!
1. Know Your Messages
Know at least three short, pertinent ‘messages’ about your brand that informs your public relations and marketing. Everything then on will be in line with those messages. This will ensure you are both consistent and true to your brand.
2. Live Up to Brand Values
Make sure you’re clear and transparent about your product and make sure that your business practices live and breathe your brand values.
3. Distinguish Yourself
Remember to be yourself!. This statement is true for you and your business. Be unusual – in a good way. Think laterally and stand out from the crowd.
4. Build Media List
Research and remember details of your key media contacts and put them in order of priority. So if your company is about gardening products then your top media contacts should be the producer of BBC’s Gardeners World, followed by the editors of the gardening pages of the national newspapers. Following your ‘trade’ list which should include all relevant magazines, remember to include the relevant freelance journalists.
5. Understand Journalists
Get to know your target journalists. Find out what they are planning, what they want to know about, and how they like to receive the information. You can increase your chances by providing quality content in a useful format. You should invite those that are interested in visits to events you are holding and offer tours, interviews, and photo opportunities. Have a chat with them about mutual interests! If you promise something to a journalist, do it! Or let them know you can no longer provide information well before the deadline.
I hope these tips were helpful to you! Look out for more tips in the future and other blog posts.
