Welcome back to the Resources to learn series, where I show you different resources to learn a target language. Next up on the list is Chinese or Mandarin which is the official language of China.

As stated before in order to work in these countries you need to know the language. So I will be giving you resources to help you with just that.

Let’s start with our first resource!

  1. YoYo Chinese

The first resource is called YoYo Chinese which is a site and a youtube channel. The site kind of runs like Duolingo and has different topics where you can learn Chinese. Topics like pinyin, numbers, greetings and more, it will have you well versed in the language.

There are a total of six levels on the site that will help improve your Chinese. On youtube, YoYo will go over things like tones and other important concepts needed to master the language. YoYo’s goal is to try and show people that Mandarin isn’t hard to learn.

2. Chineseclass101

Next on our list of resources is Chineseclass101 which is a mostly free site that has an option of subscription. On this site you learn the language through different scenarios like introduction and ordering noodles. You can make a lifetime account for free and for $1 you have all the lessons ready for download. However, this is only when you first make your account.

The lessons come in audio flies with a pdf transcript of the audio lesson so you can follow along easily. It also includes vocab and examples sentences for you to look at.

3. Hello Chinese

This resource is an app called Hellochinese and it is available for android and apple. This app runs like Duolingo but is better suited for Chinese. It teaches you grammar lessons and vocab with each topic. It especially goes over pinyin before diving you into the complexities of Chinese.

It also has an audio function where you can practice your tones and phrases. This app has everything you need to learn Chinese fully and in a fun way.

4. Pleco Chinese Dictionary

The next app is called Pleco Chinese Dictionary and is perfect for learning the meanings of characters and most importantly how to write them. In Chinese writing, you can just write characters any way you want there is a stroke order you must follow.

So this is the perfect app to have to go along with your Chinese studies and learning. Downloading the app will definitely help your vocab, reading, and writing.

5. Viki

The last resource is a fun app and site called Viki. Viki is an East Asian drama website that has dramas in Chinese, Korean and Japanese. You can use this site to help with your Chinese listening skills. There are countless Chinese dramas that you can watch for entertainment and fun.

Though to watch certain dramas you will be to be subscribed to the app. However, it will definitely be worth the learning experience.

I hope you like the second part of this series! The last part of it will be Japanese, so get ready for the resources for that.
